MICROSOCKETS Updates PICBoot Tools for Microchip 24H/33F Microcontrollers

MicroSockets is pleased to announce the immediate availability of release 1.1.0 of the PICBoot Tools for Microchip 24H/33F microcontrollers. The PICBoot Tools include an assembly language serial boot loader for 24H series 16-bit PIC microcontrollers and 33F series 16-bit dsPIC microcontrollers. In addition, the Microsoft Windows hosted PICPGM program for serial programming is included to support field programming.

The PICBoot Tools include everything needed to quickly support serial port based in circuit programming of the latest 16-bit processors from Microchip.

• Assembly language boot loader source for 24H and 33F microcontrollers
• Pre-configured binaries for use on the Microchip Explorer 16 board using dsPIC33FJ256GP710 and PIC24HJ256GP610 PIM modules
• Demo application firmware based on modified versions of the Microchip Explorer 16 sample applications
• PIC Programmer for Microsoft Windows pre-packaged for web distribution
• Complete documentation

Version 1.1.0 includes the following updates.

• Boot loader can be easily relocated to any single erasable block of flash memory
• Compatibility with Microchip code security features
• Improved PICPgm serial handling to correct problems with TeraTerm and other serial communications programs

The PICBoot Tools are released under Creative Commons licenses. The boot loader firmware is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 license, allowing modification, re-use and distribution under the specified terms for both commercial and non-commercial works. PICPGM is released under the Creative Commons Attribution - No Derivatives 2.5 license, allowing unmodified distribution for both commercial and non-commerical works.
